Some typical uses for lightweight cellular concrete are void filling under existing structures such as interior floors, where the high flowability of the material is of great advantage in that few injection holes are needed, to annular space grouting and pipe abandonment, where the high flowability and lack of segregation greatly reduce the number of injection points required compared to flowable fill or other grouts. Pervious cellular concrete is an excellent choice for backfilling bulkheads and other under eroded structures in shoreline environments because as flood waters recede, they can pass through the pervious cellular concrete, without washing it away. This reduces helps to reduce the amount of scour to adjacent areas and minimize damages from flooding.
Lightweight cellular concrete can be pumped easily for long distances because it does not segregate. Densities and strengths are variable, from as low as 16 PCF.
