Steps

The diagrams below show why steps settle, and what Concrete Jack can do to raise them back up.

When steps are constructed, they are often built over the backfill material that is placed around the foundation towards the end of the construction process.

If the backfill soil was not compacted properly before the steps were constructed, or if the soil erodes away, a void forms under the steps, and can extend out into the area under adjacent sidewalks.

Eventually, the weight of the steps overcomes the smaller area of soil or friction with surrounding structures that is holding them up.  The steps can drop straight down, lean to one side, or lean out away from the house.  Adjacent pieces of concrete, such as sidewalks and ground gutters, usually settle along with the steps.

Concrete Jack injects grout under the steps and surrounding concrete to fill any voids and relevel the structure.
